Every dress that the Gown Boutique of Charleston sent down the runway at Charleston Fashion Week was a showstopper.  These are not your average bridal dresses, but rather an exquisite couture quality gown that an A-list celebrity would wear to a red carpet event.  And that’s what the ladies of the Gown Boutique make you feel like when you pick out your dress for your big day, nothing less than a movie star. With a selection that would rival any big city bridal salon, this Mt. Pleasant based boutique stocks unique dresses that suit any style of wedding for any budget.

Southern Protocol might be new on the scene of bridal boutiques here in Charleston, but wedding planners Lizz Akerman and Michelle Miller have been immersed in the industry for years.  As weddings planners they saw the growing need for a more diverse selection of dresses for brides to choose from.  Stocking their downtown store with favorites such as Lula Kate, Carol Hannah, Heidi & Elnora, and Nicole Miller, they were eager to put on a show displaying the best of the best.  Accenting  some of the gowns were snakeskin bags and a shrug from Taxidermy , a popular line carried at their Market Street boutique.

Modern Trousseau’s dresses might have a southern flair, but the Australian bred, Connecticut based designer Callie Tein makes dresses that are instinctually classic.  The runway show at Charleston Fashion Week was a beautiful display of traditional lace dresses, silk ball gowns, tulle skirts, and a beaded dress with a matching caplet.

Nationally recognized, locally based bridal designer Katherine McDonald put on a charming show at Charleston Fashion Week with some surprises.  Her staple “Little White Dresses” and classic gowns are a mainstay, but it was the showstopping hand painted gown, lace jumpsuit, and two-piece boy short ensemble that kept you guessing “What’s next?” for this local favorite.
