Holiday Pop Up at Ro Sham Beaux

Stumped on gift ideas this year?  The local makers pop up shop at Ro Sham Beaux is in full swing through the holidays stocking up on everything from greeting cards, men’s accessories, women’s accessories, and home decor.  With so many Charleston artisans out there it can be overwhelming to keep up with them all.  I teamed up with Ro Sham Beaux to curate a few of the local talents that are doing their thing in the Holy City.

Markey Haselden of HatchCove Designs creates beautiful art inspired by growing up in Charleston.  Her dreamy maps of the lowcountry painted in water color pays homage to her roots.  Markey’s whimsical hand lettering graces her art and greeting cards giving it that personal touch.  She even does custom wedding invites and cards for special occasions.

Anna Mossman creates home decor and art from found objects.  Her Driftwood Pots de Fleur are made from driftwood that she finds on her lowcountry excursions in nature.  From candle holders to plant holders these pieces combine art with functionality.

Christine Speare’s line of accessories puts a spin on timeless classics with Sammy Speare. Her creative journey began in New York as Ralph Lauren’s illustrator and sparked her desire to create her own collection of menswear accessories with youthful details.  Christine’s cufflinks and ties are adorned with embroidered skulls and dogs giving everyday accessories a personal edge.

Garb Designs are a collection of men’s and accessories with patterns that are based on microscopic images of rocks.  Montogmery Taylor, a working geologist wanted to take the beauty of nature to create one of kind pieces spanning from handbags to ties.  Each vibrant design are a statement pieces that will spark up conversation.  Montgomery has recently started to make pillows out of her custom textiles as well.  Be on the look out for more products from Garb!

My love of fashion and art are perfectly combined in my latest series of custom greeting cards by fashion illustrator Daniel Velasco.  Last spring I sent Daniel pictures of my favorite blog shoots and he turned them into works of art.  My holiday cards are inspired by a shoot I did with the amazingly talented  Jonathan Balliet.  Daniel’s fan club is quickly growing with his live portraits at pop up parties and commissions from people everywhere from New York to L.A.
