Posh Pad

The Designer Showhouse sponsored by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League was decorated by local interior designers enhancing the already beautiful historical house.  The James Sanders House which was constructed circa 1851 on Wentworth is a  three-story Charleston Single House which maintains the original details, along with a gorgeous garden with gazebo and saline pool.

Designer Ann Yancy of Ro Sham Beaux added her touch of glam to the house with her posh light fixtures and furniture. One of my favorite rooms in the house was a cozy girl’s room designed by Terri Baldwin of TCB Designs.  The cheerful and chic space is perfect for those little ladies who can appreciate a hint of sophistication.  The Malibu chandelier from Ro Sham Beaux pulls together the whole room for an elegant, polished setting.

The Spoleto SCENE

It’s hard to believe that Spoleto season is just around the corner.  The performing arts festival heralds the start of summer and outdoor soirees. If you want to be in the know with all the cool parties and discounted tickets, the Spoleto SCENE is the way to go. One of the SCENE parties on June 2nd will be at the newly renovated and ultra hip Restoration Hotel.  The event celebrates the Aakash Odedra Company, an British born Indian dancer who brings traditional Indian dance into the modern world.  Deirdre Zahl of Candy Shop Vintage will be DJing while Cathead Vodka serves up the cocktails.

The big question is what to wear at all of these fabulous events?  With so much variety out there it’s hard to go wrong.  For an outdoor roof party I opted for this long and flowy dress by Mara Hoffman from The Resort Shop at Freshfields Village.  Nothing says the 70’s like these oversized shades from Friedrich’s Optik Charleston.  Statement jewelry is my go to, and I piled it on to complete my look.

Style is individual and a form of creative expression.  Spoleto is the perfect place to take a chance and let your artistic side shine in what you wear.

Earth Goddess at 7 Gypsy

Today is Earth Day, and what better way to celebrate it with this beautiful shoot from 7 Gypsy.  The ethereal outfits are dreamy and the location is even dreamier.  Shot in the secluded area at the end of Folly near Morris Island, it sets the stage for a time when nature was untouched by man.

Teeing off at Wild Dunes

LWP-203 (1)

Last week I ventured off to an area I’ve never explored before, the Wild Dunes Resort.  The resort which is situated in Isle of Palms has it all – vacation rentals, pools, kids activities, golf courses and restaurants.  The first order of business was a golf lesson with Jeff Minton and I was joined by the Cocktail Bandits.  My only experience with a golf club was doing put put, so it was nice to get some lessons in the foundation of golf.  Jeff was a pro at showing us how to hold the club and swing.  It’s no wonder why it’s rated the top golf school in Charleston. Hitting the balls was a blast and getting to drive the golf cart was even more fun.

The next stop was dinner at Huey’s which is located in The Links Course Clubhouse.  Named after Huey, the infamous goose that lived in the area and had a thing for ladies  but disliked men.  The retro styled restaurant and bar served up some southern goodness like pimento cheese, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, and my favorite – the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries.  Whether your a golf enthusiast or not, the view overlooking the course was just gorgeous.

Of course the drinks were flowing with the Cocktail Bandits.  The lightweight that I am, I opted for the Shirley Temple which of course matched my outfit.

The Wild Dunes Resort is the perfect staycation for the whole family.  I’m looking forward to exploring more of the property this summer!

Styled Well at Style Dwell

Shopping doesn’t get anymore local for me than visiting James Island boutique Style Dwell.  Located in a shopping center just off of Folly Rd and Maybank Highway you can find brands such as Trina Turk, Pink Stitch, Nectar, Dolce Vita, and now Ash Hoffman jewelry. I’ve been a JI local for 10 years and it’s so refreshing and convenient to know that I can drive 5 minutes from my house to find a great selection of clothes and accessories.   I recently featured them on my Lowcountry Live segment where I talked how to shop local on a budget.  Owner Christie Bishop and her daughter Ashley run the 2 year old boutique and make sure they have a great mix of all price points.  Yes, shopping local doesn’t have to break the bank.

I’m excited to host an event they’re having at their store this Thursday, April 21st from 6-8pm at 1739 Maybank Hwy Suite E.  They’re having an Ash Hoffman Trunk Show, who is one of my favorites.  Ash won JTV’s ‘ROCK STAR’ Jewelry designer competition and recently debuted her collection with them which is selling out.  I’m wearing a cuff from her collection pictured here, and I am obsessed!

There’s also going to be some incredible giveaways such as 3 $100 gift cards as wells as 1 lucky winner who will win a $50 gift card each month for the rest of the YEAR, but only if you RSVP by commenting on this post. Come meet Ash Hoffman and hang with me while you sip and shop this Thursday!
