It’s always a fun retro affair styling the Dandy Boutique look book shoots. This summer we went to The Tides on Folly Beach for our “staycation” shoot. It was the perfect backdrop for the pool party meets beach holiday. The Tides is the only hotel on Folly that is beach front and has a pool, bar, and delish restaurant Blu all on the waterfront. We were excited that they graciously hosted us for our day of vintage stylings.
Not only does Dandy stock the cutest retro clothing and accessories at an affordable price, but they also carry pool floats, portable radios, picnic accessories, and everything else you need for a summer party. This year they added swimsuits by Kling and Steady Clothing that are perfect for any body type!

Discovering new talent is my passion and at the recent Charleston Fashion Week I met a group of exceptionally talented women from Savannah at the Style Lounge. Eva Design House which is a showroom/incubator for emerging accessory designers based in Savannah showcased wares from jewelry designer Kristen Baird and bag designer Ellia Wang. It was refreshing to see original designs and impeccable craftsmanship in the jewelry and handbags. These SCAD alums represent the modern design movement that is currently happening in the south and it’s very exciting.
Kristen Baird’s jewelry is both organic and sculptural. She draws inspiration from nature such as honeycombs, flowers, rain, and waterfalls as well as architecture. I was first drawn to her designs when I saw it in the Grand Bohemian Charleston gallery shop and styled her jewelry for the cover of Charleston Magazine‘s March issue. Kristen will be back in Charleston for her “Moving Metals” trunk show at the Grand Bohemian Charleston gallery on June 11th where you can meet the artist from 5:30-8pm as well as June 12th from 1-4pm for Second Sunday.
Combining origami, geometric shapes as well as nature, Ellia Wang’s innovative bags are unique and one of a kind. She uses her impeccable eye for detail as she handcrafts each bag, a skill that is rare in the age of mass production. The materials that Ellia uses are of the finest quality from Italian calf leather to minimal gold hardware. The Marble Sharp Wristlet bag featured here is a marble pattern that’s printed on suede. Ellia Wang’s bags recently got picked up at local retailers the Trunk Show and Maris Dehart, which is slated to open in July.

I’m excited to announce the much anticipated launch of Shebu, ibu’s lower priced collection of clothing, jewelry, and gifts for women. The cult following of ibu consists of both younger and older women with every economic background. The younger crowd wants everything in the shop but sometimes can’t afford it. Now with the new Shebu line there is a great mix of lust-worthy items that are under $195, including the tunic I’m wearing here. Available online and in the shop, you can support female artisans from around the world while looking global chic.
Another exciting feature is the new It bag from Taxidermy – the Micro Mackie Tote. The smaller version of the original Mackie Tote still makes a huge statement. The gold bangles and earrings by Melinda Maria and sunglasses by Blue Planet Eyewear at Henry & Eva are some of the treasures that you can find in this Mt. Pleasant shop. The stretchy skinny jeans from House of Sage are the softest and most comfortable jeans you’ll own, and for only $58 you can’t got wrong!

Style Dwell, stocks some of the best swimwear in town from pretty patterned bikinis to fun one pieces, so you can’t go wrong. And the swimsuits are just the beginning. They also carry on trend clothes and accessories including one of my favorite jewelry designers, Ash Hoffman.
