Urban Escape at The Andell Inn

LWP-186 (1)

My staycation at the Andell Inn was everything that I expected and more.  This little slice of heaven located at the end of all the shopping and dining at the Freshfields Village is the perfect getaway from everyday life.  One of the reasons why I love it so much is that we don’t have to spend the whole day in the car to escape to another town.

Spending the day shopping and eating at the village is always a good time, but we thought why not spend the night and enjoy all of the amenities that the Andell Inn has to offer.  View more to see the beautiful property and why it was so hard to leave this special place.

Italian Feast at La Tela

LWP-148 (4)

One of my top ten restaurants in the Charleston area is actually in Freshfields Village.  La Tela Pizzeria  is known for it’s delicious Neapolitan style pizza, but their house made pasta is legendary. Owned by chef David Robb and his wife Tyler, they serve up the freshest food with some of the best service I’ve experienced.

You have to start out with one of their salads and an appetizer.  My all time favorite is the dry roasted beets, baby arugula with dried apricot, pistachios, ricotta salata topped with a vanilla-bean vinaigrette. Then I had to order the fried fresh mozzarella with Prosciutto di Parma, shaved Romano Pecorino, and baby arugula.  Their homemade marinara sauce is perfect for dipping these decadent fried balls in.

After chowing down that I split the eggplant pizza and the special of the day – quail ravioli with the hubby.  When in doubt, always order the special of the day, it never disappoints.  Then somehow we found room for the Panna Cotta which consisted of vanilla bean and buttermilk, 9 passion fruit, and white chocolate powder. Heavenly!!!

Next time your looking to take a culinary escape, make the trek out to Kiawah to eat at La Tela Pizzeria.  Trust me, it’s well worth the scenic drive.

Bike Brigade

Riding bikes with my family is one of my favorite things to do.  For our staycation at the Andell Inn we wanted to explore Freshfields Village and what better way than on 2 wheels.  Seacoast Sports and Outfitters is a one stop shop for everything outdoors including bike rentals.  The massive store sells clothing, shoes, and accessories for men and women that are geared towards an active lifestyle.  Their outdoor gear ranges from kayaks, skateboards, bikes, scooters, surfboards, and fishing rods.  Freshfields Village is our little escape to spend some quality time with the family and I’m so happy that we can enjoy the great outdoors together.

Staycation at The Andell Inn

Staycations are the best, especially when you only have to drive 30 minutes to feel a world away.  One of my favorite escapes is going to Kiawah, and the Andell Inn at Freshfields Village is the perfect getaway for a weekend of family fun.  Whether you want to shop all day in the village or just relax by the pool you can’t go wrong.

LWP-184 (1)

The first stops were gathering up our toys and entertainment to enjoy by the pool.  Me and the hubby Gus stopped by Indigo Books where we checked out our new favorite books “Humans of New York” and “The Big Bad Book of Bill Murray”.  Still a kid at heart, I do enjoy books more if they have pictures in it.  My boys Mateo and Sebastian grabbed their larger than life floats from Wonder Works Toys.  They are obsessed with this store and could spend hours looking at all of the toys.

With a bar and a delicious menu at our fingertips, it was easy to just kick it by the pool all day.  Stay tuned for more on my adventures at the Andell Inn at Freshfields Village.
