If your looking for that WOW factor in a holiday dress then Mosa Boutique is your destination. This men’s and women’s boutique on Upper King is curated with exclusive brands and styles you can’t find anywhere else in Charleston. Owner Sarah Cobb has a keen eye for what’s hot and up and coming. After trying on a dressing room full of outfits you’ll be ready for a beer that’s on tap or a glass of wine. Yes, they thought of all of the details to make your shopping experience tranquil.
There’s so many dress options – from cocktail soiree to black tie affair, the only problem you’ll have is deciding which one to get. I must have tried on at least 6 that I loved, but these are a couple of my favorites.
Jewelry is always the icing on the cake. This cuff is from Mosa Boutique and it’s something that can transition from a t-shirt and jeans to this sequin dress. The earrings by Barracuda Moon serve the same purpose – from day to night you can’t go wrong.
The citrine and diamond ring is one of the many cocktail rings that Gold Creations always has on deck. The array of jewelry that they stock in their mini boutique on Market Street can be dizzying, so give yourself some time to peruse. The staff is always super friendly and knowledgable so don’t be afraid to ask to try on all the rings you want.
Sequins and ruffles? Yes, bring it on! This combo and color is a dream come true, and for under $250 you can’t go wrong. Next time you say you have nothing to wear, remember all of the local boutiques that are stocked up with the latest dresses that will dazzle you.
‘Tis the season for endless parties and reasons to get dressed up. Finding the perfect holiday outfit might take hours of searching, but since I’m always popping in and out of boutiques I’m here to do all of the scouting for you. This outfit which looks like a dress is actually a two-piece crop top and wide legged pants from Magnifique Boutique on Market Street. This shop stocks a great selection of women’s clothing and accessories at all price ranges. Owner Onna Mack recently launched her online store so now you can shop in the comforts of home. Take advantage of their Cybermonday deal with 20% off site wide and free shipping when you use code BLACKFRIDAY at checkout.
This wine bag is the perfect hostess gift and at $22.98 you might want to scoop one up for yourself too. You don’t want to miss out on Magnifique’s holiday party on Dec. 5th for an evening of cocktails and shopping, beats by Dj Deirdre Zahl of Candy Shop Vintage, plus giveaways including a $500 gift card! Festivities are from 5-8pm at 92 North Market Street.
These jewels are by Barracuda Moon, made with love locally by Sydney Pope. Her ocean inspired accessories are made to layer but are just as gorgeous worn alone to make a statement. She up-cycles sea glass and other findings with 14kt gold to create one of a kind pieces that have a touch of luxe. Sydney knows the importance of giving back and a portion of all online sales are donated to the Polaris Project, a charity devoted to ending human trafficking. Why not give a gift that gives back this season? Take advantage of their Cybermonday sale with 15% off with code GIVELOVE17. Barracuda Moon will be on the move over the next couple of weeks with 3 upcoming pop-up shops including the Daniel Island Holiday Festival at Volvo Stadium on December 2nd from 11am-4pm, Ro Sham Beaux at 493 King Street on December 9th from 12-4pm, and Thrifters & Drifters at The Royal American 970 Morrison Dr. on December 17th from 12-5pm.
The sunglasses are from iconic eyewear purveyors Friedrich’s Optik at 194 King Street. The German company has been around since 1816 and has made frames for the most influential women in the world including Jackie O. and Iris Apfel. These frames I’m wearing are actually called the Jackie, named after the legendary Jackie O. Visit their lower King shop for both retro and classic frames that can be worn as eyeglasses or sunglasses.
If your wondering about my glow I’m wearing Luminous Complexion Fluid in EVA by Gressa Lumiére from Wildcraft. This serum is adaptable to any skin tone and can be used on your cheeks, eye lids or lips for a quick tint. I used it on my cheekbones for a highlighter effect. Wildcraft is an organic skincare and makeup boutique in South Windmere in West Ashley. I could spend hours in there trying on product and learning about all of the amazing things it does to your skin, but more about that later. Stay tuned for more outfit and gift ideas!

Every girl has that basic go to core piece in their closet that transforms depending on the mood or occasion. Tonight I’m highlighting the Diana (cocktail) skirt by local brand Senza Tempo. Designer Kristen Faranakis has a penchant for timeless clothing that’s inspired from the past. This skirt in particular is inspired by Diana Vreeland, the iconic editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue from the 1930’s – 1970’s who helped shape the culture of fashion in the modern world.
Diana Vreeland was never afraid of color (she pursued the perfect red) or accessories. That’s why I chose statement jewelry to transform my outfits to go from day to night. These bold silver accessories from Gold Creations piled on this turtleneck sweater is a daytime look, but can easily transition to a date night or girls night out.
A crisp white shirt is a no-brainer with this skirt. I especially love the tux twist like this one from Shirtini. Paired with these tiered tassel earrings from Hart, you’ll be holiday ready in a second.
If your obsessing over this Diana cocktail skirt then this is the time to scoop one up because it’s on sale for $407, along with select styles on their site through Christmas. It’s investment pieces like these that you’ll have in your closet forever. All of the garments are made in L.A. and are lined with silk habatoi, giving you that luxe feeling every time you slip one on. If your looking for more ways to wear the skirt there’s plenty of ideas on Senza Tempo. As Diana Vreeland said “Give ‘em what they never knew they wanted.”

Mt. Pleasant is abuzz because lululemon, the leaders of the athleisure movement, have recently expanded their brand to Mount Pleasant Towne Centre (1236 Belk Dr.) for their holiday seasonal store. It’s no surprise that they set up shop there because leisure lifestyle is symbiotic with the Lowcountry. The athletic apparel company have always been at the forefront of combining technology with design. Their culture of fitness apparel made for both high and low impact workouts are tested on real athletes and yogis. This of course ensures that every single detail is thought about, including busy women like me who like to have a pocket in my yoga pants to put my phone in. Wearing workout clothes when your not working out is no longer a trend, it’s a way of life.
When you walk into any of their stores you might think where do I event begin? Don’t fret because their staff is so knowledgable and well versed about all of the product. Their guidance is key when your trying to decide which clothing will fit your workout and lifestyle. They also carry a generous amount of men’s clothing and girls clothing too from ages 6-14 years old. My husband tried on the ABC pants, and is now a lululemon fanatic because of their 4 way stretch. You can do yoga in them and jet to a meeting afterwards while still look put together. Their complimentary in-house tailoring services make it an even more personalized experience, because fit is everything!
What I love about lululemon is that they’re all about supporting the community. They work with local fitness instructors by having them teach at their in-store “Sweat Sessions”. These complimentary classes include both low and high impact workouts from yoga, pilates, hit, to tabata. You can catch classes on Saturdays at 9am and Sundays at 11am in the month of November, and in December they’ll be offering lunch day sweat seasons. Check out their local Facebook page to stay updated on what’s happening at the store.
Mount Pleasant Towne Centre always has a fun family friendly event going on and this Saturday is their big Lights Up Event. Starting at 6pm get into the holiday spirit on Saturday on Belk Drive as they light the Christmas tree and project a laser light show. The evening will also include live musical performances by the East Cooper Baptist Church Orchestra and Showstoppers from Musical Theater Center. I heard they’re going to have some great giveaways from Towne Centre shops, and a visit from Santa himself. Sip on some wine and beer from Wine Cellar Wine and Gifts while the kiddies enjoy the jump castle, face painting and arts & crafts with Art-Vark Palette.
