Striped Possibilities

There’s a misconception that shopping local is always expensive, but there’s nothing that I love more than to find a good deal on clothes while supporting small businesses.  I make it a point to find the local shops that have the deals and this Friday I’m featuring a few on Lowcountry Live for my “Looks for Less” segment. This outfit is from bevello, one of the newer boutiques on King Street that always stocks the cutest clothes and accessories. The pants might be a splurge for $80, but the tank top is $18, and the earrings are only $24!

bevello‘s first store opened in April 2009 in Raleigh, NC, and has been rapidly growing all over the southeast and beyond, with 32 stores from Dallas to Virginia Beach. bevello carries on trend labels such as Show Me Your Mumu, Free People, Z Supply, French Connection, Hudson Denim, Kendra Scott, and many more.   What sets them apart from the rest? They offer a range of shopping programs such as VIP rewards, a bridal program, private shopping parties, fashion shows, special events, and weekly promotions.  They also do fun events like their frequent yoga parties with Serenity Tree Yoga. Click here for more on their upcoming event on June 21st which includes a yoga session, light bites, drinks + 20% OFF your purchase.

Tune into Lowcountry Live this Friday for looks under $100 from bevello, Dress Up, E. Blackhurst, and Mulberry & King. When you shop at bevello mention LOWCOUNTRYLIVE and receive 15% OFF discount at their King Street location and online!

Tank top $18, pants by J.O.A. $80, earrings $24 all from Bevello //  Bailey sunglasses $50 by Blue Planet Eyewear // Trio Shoulder Bag in Leaf $438 by Ellia Wang // TAKE OFF Wedge Sandals $35 from Asos // “Some Like it Hot” Lipstick sheer $24 by ABP Makeup

The Ruffled LBD

That little black dress could be a dime a dozen, but this one is definitely stands out.  It’s from the online store Tobi, which offers a deep variety of clothes for an amazingly affordable price.  This little neoprene number right here was $60 and is now only $12!  I scooped up a 3 dresses and a swimsuit for under $150.  When you go through clothes like me it’s always good to have options.

I love these chalcedony earrings, cuff, and rings from Croghan’s Jewel Box.  They always have the perfect accents to top any outfit.

The Harper Clutch by Taxidermy is one of my favorite styles and this one is the ideal neutral tone to go with anything.  If your going to invest in a Taxidermy bag, it’s always good to go with the natural python.

Soleil Bodycon Dress from Tobi $12 // 18k Vermeil chalcedony earrings $165, gold plated 19k Aqua chrysoberyl ring $3,075, gold plated Solin cuff and gold plated Solin ring $115 by Elizabeth & James from Croghan’s Jewel Box // Sunglasses by Quay at Germain Dermotology // Harper Clutch by Taxidermy $895 // Similar shoes by Vince Camuto at DSW $59.95

Tres Chic

I can’t believe March is already here which means that Charleston Fashion Week is right around the corner.  5 nights of runway shows including emerging designers and local boutiques like Tres Carmen will be showing on the runway.   Tres Carmen opened up last year in Freshfields Village and more shops and restaurants are slated to open very soon, which means more reason to take that day trip out to Kiawah.  I love spending the afternoon at Freshfields Village in Kiawah to shop, eat, and just relax because it really is an escape from the hustle and bustle.

Every season Freshfields Village hosts a Sip & Stroll  where every 3rd Thursday of the month you can visit participating stores for light snacks and sips while enjoying special events, sales, and promotions inside the shops. The next one is on March 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and you can check out all of the participating stores and sales here.

This little outfit is from Tres Carmen in Freshfields Village and I’m obsessed with everything I’m wearing starting with the python purse and choker by Taxidermy. The new colors for spring are incredible, especially this sand color JW bag, it’s the new neutral.

Can we talk about these shoes?  I’ve been wearing them almost everyday since I got them and I don’t want to take them off!  They’re by Summit by White Mountain and are designed and made in Italy.  But you don’t have to be scared that they’re crazy expensive, they’re  only $148.95 from Nordstrom.  I actually discovered them on Instagram and I’m so happy to know that they not only make beautiful shoes, but there are all about sustainability. They reduce their waste, carbon, and energy output while educating their employees on environmental protection and cleaner production initiatives.

My other obsession?  My lash extensions by Becca at Simply Mitten Beauty Bar.  I hate putting on eye makeup and the time it takes me in the morning.  I’m the type of person that likes to get up and go.  Now that I have these incredibly thick and long lashes it takes me 5 minutes to get ready.  On most days I just wear my tinted Anti-Photo Aging Sunscreen by Germain Dermatology and I’m out the door!  It’s incredible what longer lashes can do.  I won’t miss the days of taking forever to get my cat-eye liner perfect, or curling my lashes, or layering on the mascara.  Now I’m Fashion Week ready without the hassle of spending time on my makeup!

Top $245, gaucho pants $275 by Nicole Miller, Rose gold flamingo earrings by Ash Hoffman$265, sunglasses by Quay $45, python choker $95 and JW mini python bag $1,295 all from Tres Carmen at Freshfields Village // “Brody” platform oxford $148.95 from Nordstrom

The Luxe Retreat & Boutique at Woodhouse Day Spa

0B0A9276

Wondering where the ultimate luxury spa getaway is in Charleston?  The Woodhouse Day Spa in Mt. Pleasant is THE place you want to get pampered.  Offering over 70 different treatments from facials, massages,  body scrubs, manis and pedis and the state of the art Vichy shower. With Valentine’s day right around the corner this is an obvious gift for your loved one or if you want to get spoiled too they’re offering seasonal packages for couples like the “Date Night” series.

0B0A9283

Other than escaping to a blissful retreat at Woodhouse, you can shop their boutique.  Owner Kimberly Powell seeks out the best skincare products and accessories while highlighting local brands.  I thought I knew almost every locally made brand out there, but I was excited to discover a few I’ve never heard of before.

Deep Steep makes their natural bath and body products in Johns Island and everything is Non-GMO, Gluten-free, Vegan and Cruelty Free.  The line spans from shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, body oil, and so much more.  I can’t wait to sample all of them because the scent is heavenly!

0B0A9197

Maya Chia is one of my favorite local skincare brand, and they’re also based right here in Charleston.  Pretty much all of their products are made with chia seed oil and I am obsessed with the new highlighting serum.  I’ve been wearing it everyday on my cheekbones for that subtle glow.

Other than a wide variety of skincare and beauty products to spoil yourself or that special someone, Woodhouse carries the Design Her book by local author Julianne Taylor of Taylor Burke Home.  Filled with stories of female entrepreneurs in interior design, this book is an inspirational read and beautiful collection of design.

This shark tooth necklace is by Foxy Fossils, local designer Casey Danielle finds real fossils all over the lowcountry and turns them into wearable accessories. Each piece is one of a kind and is incredibly affordable.  The earrings start at $29, so it’s easy to collect more than a few pieces and layer the necklaces.

0B0A9222

Kimberly Powell, has recently launched her candle line 1670 Charlestowne candle set which comes with a keepsake Sweetgrass basket. Each basket-and-candle set is hand-numbered and signed by the basket weaver and candle designers. The scent is a combination of fresh hay, cut grass, water lily, cucumber, lotus, anemone petals and blond wood. Kimberly is one of the most generous philanthropists in Charleston so it’s natural that a percentage of the sales of the  Sweetgrass-fragrance 1670 Charlestowne products are donated to charities that support Lowcountry youth culture and arts programs.

0B0A9268

She also carries Taxidermy accessories, which are an all time favorite in Charleston and beyond.  I love spreading the word on great places to shop and Woodhouse Day Spa has the perfect gifts for Valentine’s Day.  Pair that with an amazing spa experience and your partner will be forever grateful!

Friday I’m in Love

0B0A9678

I can’t believe that January is almost over, which means that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.  There’s so many gift ideas out there to hint at your man or Charleston shops to get decked out for a date night.

0B0A9718 (3)

This retro inspired dress from Maris DeHart is perfection. The beaded earrings are also from Maris DeHart and are handcrafted by a new Charleston based jewelry brand called Lina Rosa. I love the tiny details, pop of color, and modern design of each earring.  I heard it takes several hours to make and I can appreciate the beautiful quality.  Taxidermy has been getting very experimental with their bags, and this new design is pretty stellar!

If you really want to hint at a splurge of a gift then Gold Creations has those stunner rings.  This green amethyst and diamond ring is dazzling with it’s unique design.  I always love going in there to drool and try on all the statement cocktail rings.

Giorgio Armani Beauty at Cosbar

0b0a0312

The other day I had the fun experience of getting glam with Giorgio Armani Beauty at Cosbar Charleston.  When you walk into Cosbar on King Street you step into luxury beauty heaven.  They carry all of the top cosmetic, skincare, hair care, and fragrance lines such as Tom Ford, Trish McEvoy, Oribe, Bobbi Brown, LaMer, and Laura Mercier just to name a few.  Resident makeup artist Megan Johnson applied Giorgio Armani Beauty makeup while explaining each product to me.  I always find it so helpful when the makeup artist walks me through everything they’re doing so I can try to replicate it at home. I loved the products, especially the Lasting Satin Lipcolor, which really did last me all day.  Most lasting lipsticks leave your lips dry, but this one was very moisturizing and didn’t budge at all!

0b0a0329

Cosbar Charleston frequently brings in beauty experts from all over the world to educate and share their new products.  This Saturday will be a standout one with Tim Quinn, the celebrity makeup artist for Giorgio Armani Beauty.  Tim has worked with starlets such as Gwen Stefani, Glen Close, Drew Barrymore, Naomi Campbell, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Brooke Shields just to name a few. Tim Quinn and his team will be showing the hottest trends in makeup from the runway to the red carpet. Tim is also an advocate of The Farrah Fawcett Foundation which funds cancer research and prevention and 10% of the Giorgio Armani Beauty sales will be donated to this cause.  If your a beauty junkie or need some guidance with the top experts in the industry, you don’t want to miss out on this one!  Stop by Cosbar Charleston this Saturday, November 12th from 10am – 5pm at 201 King Street.

Cryo-date

CV__8011

I’m a huge fan of Germain Dermatology and the groundbreaking services that they offer. I started going to them a few years ago when I had issues with my skin and I love using their custom skincare products and taking advantage of their skin rejuvenating procedures. So when they invited me to try out their new Cryosauna and Cryofacial I was intrigued and had to try it out.

CV__1787

Before I went in for my treatment, the expert on hand – Mel filled me in on all the amazing benefits. Whole Body Cryotherapy is a systemic anti-inflammatory treatment involving skin exposure to ultra-low temperatures for a brief controlled time. When the skin is exposed to those temperatures (-140 to -150 degrees Celsius) the blood vessels then release anti-inflammatory proteins that go to any inflamed area in the body. The treatment is dry and tolerable and lasts for 1.5-3 minutes.  They give you a robe to enter the chamber but you have to strip down to just a pair of gloves, socks, and slippers so your extremities are protected.  I’m a wimp when it comes to cold temperatures so I’m surprised I stood in the chamber for almost 3 minutes! The body also releases endorphins and it boosts your metabolism (burning up to 800 calories over the next 48 hours after one treatment). After one treatment I had a burst of energy that lasted with me the entire day.  I felt both relaxed and ready to tackle my usual hectic schedule.

CV__8040 (1)

Cryotherapy can also help with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, musculoskeletal injuries, autoimmune and other inflammatory disorder, skin disorders such as dermatitis and psoriasis, skin aging, skin elasticity, and cellulite, athletic performance, weight management, depression, and post surgical recovery.   The cost is $65 and well worth it if you are having any of these issues.

If your a busy person on the go and you want to see fast results, the Cryofacial is where it’s at!  A controlled beam of vaporized liquid nitrogen is used to cool the skin of the face, scalp, and neck area. During these super hot days of 90 + temps, this treatment is a real treat!  The 10-12 minute facial is $45 and is great for pore reduction while collagen production is stimulated.  Because of this the skin tightens and wrinkles are reduced.

CV__8128 (1)

Toxins in the skin are reduced by increasing blood flow and when treating the scalp: hair growth is stimulated, by increasing blood flow. It also reduces inflammation and puffiness of the skin.  The most visible difference that I saw was my the disappearance of the dark circle under my eyes.  I’ve heard a lot of models pop in to get a Cryofacial right before a photoshoot so their skin can look flawless, and now I see why.  The other great thing is that you can still wear makeup while you get the facial. Perfect if you need to squeeze in a quickie facial in the middle of the day.

CV__8098

I totally recommend the Cryotherapy treatment if you want to see and feel results.  It’s refreshing and rejuvenating, and totally convenient because Germain takes walk-ins for these treatments.  Now go experience the chill factor and tell them the Curator sent you!
