Winging It

There’s nothing that I love more than to connect with emerging talent.  Saturday night at Charleston Fashion Week I wanted to represent a few former SCAD students who are creating innovative accessories that are being sold right here in Charleston.  Catie Curran creates her signature jewelry from elytra, the hardened forewings of beetles.  The vibrant color can be mistaken for a man made material, but in fact it’s nature’s beauty.  She is also a metalsmith who creates brass, bronze and jewelry inspired by other elements in nature such as dragonfly wings and branches.  She’s sold at Maris DeHart and apparently they can’t keep her beetle wing earrings in stock.

This custom bag was made by Ellia Wang with an original water color painting printed on leather by Daniel Velasco.  The good friends first met at SCAD and finally joined forces to create this beautiful bag now being sold at the Grand Bohemian Gallery.   Ellia Wang‘s modern accessories are a work of art and Daniel Velasco‘s illustrations are so inspiring.  They are a match made in fashion heaven.

The Goldbug Love Train Cuff is designed by local jewelry designer Mini Hay at Croghan’s Jewel Box.  The rings from Gold Creations are the perfect accent to any outfit.

I’m obsessed with this dress by Rachel Roy and I was excited to wear something from her since her runway show was that night at Charleston Fashion Week.  She was the nicest woman and gave the best advice to the Emerging Designers during the Judge Panel discussion.  Her Frida Kahlo, Mexican beachy inspired show was the perfect way to end Fashion Week and get ready for Spring!

Marble Top

Last Thursday night at Charleston Fashion Week I got decked out in Maris DeHart to represent their Style Makers tent.  They recreated their Vendue Shop in the middle of Marion Square complete with fixtures filled with items from featured designers – Hart Studio, Catie Curran, Naked Eyes, Ellia Wang, and Lisa Hoang; plus local makers Element Candles and art by Sam Rueter.

Maris DeHart is doing a special collaboration with 2016 CFW Emerging Designer Lisa Hoang for a capsule collection including this marble top that I was so excited to scoop up!  These earrings by Hart Studio were the perfect accent to my outfit.  Her tassel earrings are taking the town by a storm. I swear every other girl I saw at Fashion Week were wearing her earrings.

There’s nothing like piling on some diamond rings by Croghan’s Jewel Box to pair with this Antler Box by Taxidermy.  I definitely felt like a million bucks.

Marble top by Lisa Hoang x Maris DeHart $178, Pants by Do + Be $118, Berg + Betts watch $128, Earrings by Hart Studio $54 from Maris DeHart // Goldbug cuff $250, 14k diamond Tahitian pearl ring $485, Labradorite diamond ring $2,825, 14k moonstone diamond ring $2,900 from Croghan’s Jewel Box // Antler Box clutch $695 by Taxidermy // “Brody” platform oxford by Summit White Mountain Shoes $148.95 from Nordstrom // Pink robe coat from The Trunk Show
