4 Ways to Wear the Diana Skirt

Every girl has that basic go to core piece in their closet that transforms depending on the mood or occasion.  Tonight I’m highlighting the Diana (cocktail) skirt by local brand Senza Tempo.  Designer Kristen Faranakis has a penchant for timeless clothing that’s inspired from the past.  This skirt in particular is inspired by Diana Vreeland, the iconic editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue from the 1930’s – 1970’s who helped shape the culture of fashion in the modern world.

Diana Vreeland was never afraid of color (she pursued the perfect red) or accessories.  That’s why I chose statement jewelry to transform my outfits to go from day to night.  These bold silver accessories from Gold Creations  piled on this turtleneck sweater is a daytime look, but can easily transition to a date night or girls night out.

A crisp white shirt is a no-brainer with this skirt.  I especially love the tux twist like this one from Shirtini.  Paired with these tiered tassel earrings from Hart, you’ll be holiday ready in a second.

The Frances shell top by Senza Tempo pairs perfectly the Diana skirt.  For a fun spin on things throw on a crown like this one I picked up from The Trunk Show, jewels from Gold Creations.

I personally think everyone needs a leopard print coat and this one by J.McLaughlin and cat eye sunglasses from Germain Dermatology ties in the retro vibe.

If your obsessing over this Diana cocktail skirt then this is the time to scoop one up because it’s on sale for $407, along with select styles on their site through Christmas.  It’s investment pieces like these that you’ll have in your closet forever.  All of the garments are made in L.A. and are lined with silk habatoi, giving you that luxe feeling every time you slip one on.  If your looking for more ways to wear the skirt there’s plenty of ideas on Senza Tempo.   As Diana Vreeland said “Give ‘em what they never knew they wanted.”

Overall Good Times

My second day with my family at Wild Dunes was jam packed with fun as we pool hopped and rode bikes, soaking up the last moments of our staycation.  I rented a tandem bike so my youngest, Sebastian could ride along without worrying about keeping up with his training wheels.  Me and the boys rode until we reached the Links Golf Course and then we broke for a yummy lunch at at Huey’s overlooking the beautiful greens.

Before we headed out for our busy day we had to throw down a big breakfast.  You think we would still be full from the night before at Coastal Provisions, but alas we came back for more.  The menu covered everything from savory to sweet and in between.  I opted for the Flapjacks made with real corn topped with home made granola and bourbon vanilla syrup.  My boys gobbled down their all time favorites – Chocolate Pancakes with a side of bacon and eggs.  My photographer and foodie sidekick Libby Williams ordered the shrimp and crab omelette which looked like a delectable work of art.

All good things must come to an end, but the memories we made at Wild Dunes will live on forever.  Me and my family enjoyed ourselves to the fullest and would totally come back again, even in the off season so we can explore some more.  With all of the fun activities and excursions you need a good 4 days to take advantage of it all.  This just means we’ll be back for another adventure!

Dandy’s Cabana Daze

It’s always a fun retro affair styling the Dandy Boutique look book shoots.  This summer we went to The Tides on Folly Beach for our “staycation” shoot.  It was the perfect backdrop for the pool party meets beach holiday.  The Tides is the only hotel on Folly that is beach front and has a pool, bar, and delish restaurant Blu all on the waterfront.  We were excited that they graciously hosted us for our day of vintage stylings.

Not only does Dandy stock the cutest retro clothing and accessories at an affordable price, but they also carry pool floats, portable radios, picnic accessories, and everything else you need for a summer party. This year they added swimsuits by Kling and Steady Clothing that are perfect for any body type!

Urban Escape at The Andell Inn

LWP-186 (1)

My staycation at the Andell Inn was everything that I expected and more.  This little slice of heaven located at the end of all the shopping and dining at the Freshfields Village is the perfect getaway from everyday life.  One of the reasons why I love it so much is that we don’t have to spend the whole day in the car to escape to another town.

Spending the day shopping and eating at the village is always a good time, but we thought why not spend the night and enjoy all of the amenities that the Andell Inn has to offer.  View more to see the beautiful property and why it was so hard to leave this special place.

The Spoleto SCENE

It’s hard to believe that Spoleto season is just around the corner.  The performing arts festival heralds the start of summer and outdoor soirees. If you want to be in the know with all the cool parties and discounted tickets, the Spoleto SCENE is the way to go. One of the SCENE parties on June 2nd will be at the newly renovated and ultra hip Restoration Hotel.  The event celebrates the Aakash Odedra Company, an British born Indian dancer who brings traditional Indian dance into the modern world.  Deirdre Zahl of Candy Shop Vintage will be DJing while Cathead Vodka serves up the cocktails.

The big question is what to wear at all of these fabulous events?  With so much variety out there it’s hard to go wrong.  For an outdoor roof party I opted for this long and flowy dress by Mara Hoffman from The Resort Shop at Freshfields Village.  Nothing says the 70’s like these oversized shades from Friedrich’s Optik Charleston.  Statement jewelry is my go to, and I piled it on to complete my look.

Style is individual and a form of creative expression.  Spoleto is the perfect place to take a chance and let your artistic side shine in what you wear.
