I’m so proud to be an ambassador of the “I Will Reflect” campaign, the Melanoma Awareness and Prevention initiative that The Spa at Belmond Charleston Place is hosting. As an active person who works and plays outdoors, I value the importance of protecting myself from the sun’s harmful rays. I always wear 15 – 70 SPF year round, wear hats and sunglasses when I know I’m going to be in the sun all day, and take shade whenever I can. I think it’s always important to spread the message to the younger generation and raise awareness. My boys know that they have to wait for mommy to apply that sunscreen before a day in the sun.
“With this campaign, we aim to educate the Charleston community about the importance of sun safety, skin protection and the significant dangers of melanoma,” says Annette Sandford-Lopez, Director of The Spa at Belmond Charleston Place. The “I Will Reflect” social media campaign will use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as its channels of communication for sharing advice from local physicians, stories from skin cancer survivors, and everyday sun safety tips.
So as you get ready for a day at the beach or by the pool, don’t forget to protect yourself!
