Teeing off at Wild Dunes

Last week I ventured off to an area I’ve never explored before, the Wild Dunes Resort.  The resort which is situated in Isle of Palms has it all – vacation rentals, pools, kids activities, golf courses and restaurants.  The first order of business was a golf lesson with Jeff Minton and I was joined by the Cocktail Bandits.  My only experience with a golf club was doing put put, so it was nice to get some lessons in the foundation of golf.  Jeff was a pro at showing us how to hold the club and swing.  It’s no wonder why it’s rated the top golf school in Charleston. Hitting the balls was a blast and getting to drive the golf cart was even more fun.

The next stop was dinner at Huey’s which is located in The Links Course Clubhouse.  Named after Huey, the infamous goose that lived in the area and had a thing for ladies  but disliked men.  The retro styled restaurant and bar served up some southern goodness like pimento cheese, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, and my favorite – the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries.  Whether your a golf enthusiast or not, the view overlooking the course was just gorgeous.

Of course the drinks were flowing with the Cocktail Bandits.  The lightweight that I am, I opted for the Shirley Temple which of course matched my outfit.

The Wild Dunes Resort is the perfect staycation for the whole family.  I’m looking forward to exploring more of the property this summer!
